House & Cuddy
The third installment of my Distractions! picspam project.  Season 3.

Season 3 was odd for me.  I enjoyed the beginning of the season.  House being able to walk without pain again was an interesting experiment (and one that didn't end in one episode).  I liked that they didn't give up the Cuddy pregnancy storyline, that we got some good House/Cuddy scenes (and some good Cuddy/Wilson scenes), and that House didn't think that lying to him about a patient sounded like Cuddy (but it did sound like Wilson).

And then we got Tritter.  Hands down, worst arc ever.  STOP TALKING TO THE MEGALOMANIACAL COP.  Stop providing the lone cop office space.  And, again: STOP TALKING TO HIM.  Stop pretending you're lawyers.  In fact, you all have lawyers: USE THEM.  Yelling at fictional television is not a good use of my time.  And this was David Morse!  I'm a fan of David Morse; he's fantastic, which made this arc even more frustrating (it does get better on re-watch, without having to wait weeks between episodes, but still. annoying).

So why do I feel like Show was making it up to me with all these House/Cuddy episodes we got in the second half of the season?  From Words & Deeds on, tons of amazing House/Cuddy scenes.  It was awesome.  House's smile at the end of the "supertanker" scene in Top Secret?  Love.  (and it gets cut in reruns! what is that?!)

By the time Act Your Age comes around, WIlson knows (1) Cuddy was trying to get pregnant and House knew (and didn't tell Wilson) and (2) Cuddy perjured herself and fabricated evidence to help House avoid jail time.  (The caps are low quality but, as always, the people are pretty!)

HOUSE; Stop, don't move.  The way the soft evening light catches your eyes, the gentle caress of dusk on your hair as you turn around and leave my office without giving me that file.
. . .
HOUSE: Round up the usual suspects. Amyloidosis, sarcoidosis, hemochromatosis... Heck, go wild, do all the osises.  All taken care of, sleep tight.

Cuddy's bringing House a new patient at the end of the day.  I love how House tries to charm his way out taking the case (and Cuddy is charmed), but he still gets to go home anyway.   The ducklings . . . do not.    Oh, and in this episode: the dad is stupid (and it's always the dad); Cameron's behaving like a spoiled brat, until she's not; and Chase is being sweet.

HOUSE: You want the tickets or not?
WILSON: Why don't you want to go with me?
HOUSE: It's a play. Dudes only go to plays if they're dragged by women they're hoping to see naked.
WILSON: So why are you giving them to me?
HOUSE: Maybe there's someone you want to see naked?
WILSON: All right.

Heh: "What you usually do, hiding from Cuddy."  Love that they kept that going (like she doesn't know he's in the clinic when he does that; Cuddy knows all).  Men only go to plays with women they want to see naked.  House just has a theory for everything, doesn't he.  Poor Wilson: "why don't you want to go with me?"  Also:  hi, Bones intern!  whose name escapes me.  Daisy (another Bones intern) is the teacher in this ep, too; I almost didn't recognize her.

CUDDY: 6-year-old abuse victim and you haven't called social services?
HOUSE: She might have been abused; that's horrifying. Why are you wearing extra concealer under your eyes?
CUDDY: The law is clear, you suspect abuse you call the authorities, You don't proceed as usual while the possible abuser sits by her bedside.
HOUSE: Dad consented to the exam, which means it's not the Dad. How late were you out last night?
CUDDY: It's always the Dad and I don't have a curfew.
HOUSE: Panty hamster get a spin on its wheel?
CUDDY: I went to a play. House you are going back to your office, you are picking up your phone, calling social services, and you are reporting suspected abuse.  Do you understand?
HOUSE: What play?

Panty hamster?  Oookay.  I don't know why the clinic staff bothers being surprised by House's outbursts anymore, unless everyone was just shocked that Cuddy had sex (and/or had sex with someone who wasn't House).

At any rate, I LOVE this scene.  LOVE LOVE LOVE.  The way he looks at her -- wow.  See gif:
:

And his little smile when he puts the pieces together?  Sigh.  How can she stay mad at him? Wait, no, I know, but my goodness, the eye!sex.

HOUSE: You're trying to have sex with Cuddy.
WILSON: Fries?
HOUSE: You took her to a play.  You only take women to plays because--
WILSON: No, you only take women to plays for that reason. That's your theory.
HOUSE: Ok, then why did you take her to a play?
WILSON: She's a friend.
HOUSE: A friend with a squish mitten.
WILSON: It is possible to have a friend of the opposite sex without--
HOUSE: Blasphemer! She's not a friend of the opposite sex she's a different species. She's an administrator. She's going to eat your head after she's done.
WILSON: Yes, I slept with her.
HOUSE: Seriously?
WILSON: No.
HOUSE: Yes you did.
WILSON: Yes I did.
HOUSE: Seriously?
WILSON: No. You've got a problem House.

As calm as he seemed with Cuddy, House has worked himself up to a frenzy by the time he finds WIlson.  And I'm thinking WIlson is enjoying screwing with him.  And I'm amused at the french fry as a prop in this scene.  I love the TWOP recap of this episode, BTW (way too lazy to try to find a link but it's great).  "Yes, I slept with her." "Seriously?" "No." "Yes you did." "Yes, I did." "Seriously?" "No. You have a problem, House." "and that problem is he's in love with Cuddy, but we don't have time for that now because look! here's Foreman."  (and, no, it's not odd at all that I remember a line from a review I read years ago.  Not. weird. at. all.)

WILSON: Cuddy.
HOUSE: You want to see her naked.
WILSON: No no no, she wants to see ME naked. She sent me flowers.
HOUSE: Just thanking you for the play. You see some people feel an emotion called gratitude.
WILSON: There's a card.
HOUSE: I suspected, explains how you knew who they were from.
WILSON: Lets do it again. Soon. X X. Lisa. Xs are the kisses right?
HOUSE: No, I think they're the hugs. I think Os are the kisses.
WILSON: No, no, Xs are definitely the kisses. Soon is its own sentence. I got to go.
HOUSE: I'll miss you. You were a good friend. They printed my letter. How was the play Mrs Lincoln?
CUDDY: What's up with Wilson?
HOUSE: He's just a little freaked.
CUDDY: Why?
HOUSE: I sent him flowers.

I like how House and Wilson tend to walk with the same gait.  I watched the pilot the other day; same thing.  Is this something the actors came up with?  It's great.

Wilson, sweetie, why so scared?  Or was this part of an elaborate plan?  I can't imagine Wilson is that good of an actor (RSL is, obv, but Wilson isn't). When (and how) does WIlson find out, anyway?  But why is WIlson so scared at the idea that Cuddy wants to have sex with him?  "Cause seriously? there's a long line, buddy.  Silly Wilson.  And House chooses Cuddy, aww, although he probably assumes WIlson's running for the hills.  (House is also spending a lot of time in the clinic this episode; I miss that.  Moar clinic, moar!)

"How was the play, Mrs. Lincoln?"  is amusingly awful.  And Cuddy's adorably perplexed by the boys.

HOUSE: Talk to Cuddy?
WILSON: No not yet! I don't know what to say.
HOUSE: Just... be straight with her.
WILSON: I'm not sure what that is. (TWOP recap: Certainly not this scene)  I can't stop thinking about her.
HOUSE: In what way?
WILSON: Maybe she's right, maybe--maybe this is worth exploring?
HOUSE: You sure that she feels--
WILSON: She sent me flowers! How do I do this? What do I say?
HOUSE: Cameron would tell you to say how you feel. Me, I'd get her drunk.
WILSON: I'm not going to say anything. I'm just going to walk into her office, and I'm going to kiss her.
HOUSE: That's a bold move, Cuddy likes bold. Yeah, you're right, if you spoke you'd say something stupid.
WILSON: Yeah, and I'll either get a girlfriend or get fired. Ok.  Yeah, ok.  *Wilson leaves, then storms back in* You, you you you! You were going to let me do that?!
HOUSE: Well, you made a compelling argument.
WILSON: YOU sent those flowers to me!
HOUSE: Yes because you took her to a play because actually you do want to march down there and kiss her.
WILSON: No! I don't!
HOUSE: Yes, you do.
WILSON: You're right.
HOUSE: Seriously?
WILSON: No. You're a jerk.
HOUSE: 'Night, Wilson.
WILSON: 'Night, House.

And here is where House gets worried, then amused that his plan has gone horribly, horribly awry.  The twinkle he has when he says "Cuddy likes bold!"  And, seriously, when House says "Me, I'd get her drunk," I always thought that if anything ever happened with House and Cuddy, that's how it would have to happen.  They'd have to get drunk in order to let their guards down (or Cuddy would have to be drunk, but the idea of them being drunk, together, is way too amusing to let go).  WAY TO SURPRISE ME, SHOW.  Apparently they have to be at their absolute lowest, in overwhelming pain, for anything to happen.  MY 'SHIP KISSES WHEN THEY'RE AT THEIR WORST AND I LOVE THAT ABOUT THEM.

So, does anyone want to march right down there and kiss her?  Does House, at this point?  Maybe?  Probably (he is human, after all; I mean, honestly).  But he certainly doesn't want anything serious and kissing your boss is a SERIOUS THING.  Unless you do and then you both try to ignore it and freak out . . . but, yeah, you'll either get fired (temporarily; House is impervious) or (eventually) get a girlfriend.  Eventually.  After a lot of time passes. A lot. of time.

CUDDY: I don't get the whole May/December thing.
HOUSE: Give him a break, it's May/October at worst.
CUDDY: Well why can't it be October/October?
HOUSE: May is when things start to get hot.
CUDDY: If that guy wasn't trying so hard to keep up with a women half his age he wouldn't have almost killed both his kids.
HOUSE: Guy gets a little something-something, couple of kids have to die, circle of life.
CUDDY: So many people, so much energy and drama just trying to find someone who's almost never the right person anyway. It just shouldn't be so hard.
HOUSE: I got tickets to a play . . . .

October/October!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Our 'ship has a balcony scene!  :D

This scene was so unexpected; such a pleasant surprise.  They're hanging out on the balcony (was the balcony new in season 3?  And they just wanted to get their money's worth?  House & Cuddy on the balcony is actually pretty entertaining; the "She's dangerous / She's not dangerous / She's pretty / She's pretty / Men are stupid / I'm with you so far" scene comes to mind).

But why are they hanging out on the balcony.  Is this something that they do often that we just don't get to see?  Hang out together at various times?  Not to talk about a patient (this is an ex-patient by this point) or the clinic or anything relating to their work lives?  I loved this scene at the time; I still do.  House and Cuddy have such a volatile relationship that they both value and seem to need, but when they can have these peaceful moments to just be?  I love it.  These moments are few and far between but I love them.  They have such a rich history of which we only get a few glimpses but I appreciate the acknowledgement that they really are friends, that they really do enjoy each other's company.

And he asked her to a play.  HE ASKED HER TO A PLAY.  He gets nervous and scrunches his face and he asks.  And he looks at her as he waits for her answer (which I'm glad we didn't get to see.  WAY too awkward).

Part two: House Training.

I loved the picsman.
Haha, the TWOP mention reminded me of this:

| Season 3 | Episode 18 | Aired on 2007.04.10

After the commercial, House listens to Cuddy's heart. It says: "I love you, House. We will be together for the series finale. Yes we will. But not before then because a House/Cuddy relationship on the show would be too weird."

Thank you!

Heh. LOVE THAT. And I totally thought that, too, at the time. Way to go, Show, for making me change my mind.

Her reviews are so full of lols.

Such a good episode..and recap. "Taking Cuddy to a play" ought to be a new euphamism. And "Wilson doesn't know how to be straight" should be clarified.

Excellent picspam, even if I don't really get what a picspam is.

Aww, thank you! "Taking Cuddy to a play" really should be a new euphemism. "What is House up to?" "He's taking Cuddy to a play." I like it.

Heh. I think it's clear I don't really get what a picspam is :D I just ramble about the episode and add distractingly pretty people to compensate :D

Thanks for commenting!

Every single time someone says 'Seriously?' in my real life I think of this episode and that french fry, lol.

Apparently they have to be at their absolute lowest, in overwhelming pain, for anything to happen.
I love this about them so so much.

And yes, that end scene was such a sweet little surprise, I love it when they show us friend moments between them. Wonder if we'll get more of them this season? Like not necessarily romantic ones but just them hanging out every once in a while? GOD I would love that.

Clicking over to part two now, YOU BETTER HAVE INCLUDED THE CUTE LITTLE SCRUNCH-FACED SHAKE SHE DOES AFTER "I'M NOT SAFE? COOOOOL." Lol what am I saying, you're a H/C shipper, OFC you will have included that scene :D

I love them so much. Doing these picspams has only reinforced that (and reinforced the fact that I'm a little bit nuts :D)

I want friend moments SO MUCH. Exactly, not necessarily romantic ones (and certainly not all the time) but them hanging out, enjoying each other's company? WANT THIS.

LOL! I EVEN GIF'D IT!
