Took a break from House (still hasn't sunk in) and a breather from Bones anticipation (tomorrow!) and watched a show with no history, no angst, full of light-hearted comedy: The Good Guys, new show on Fox this summer.

Since I really like everyone involved with this show, it was going to take a LOT for me to decide not to tune in in June.  Seriously: Matt Nix EP/creator/writer (Burn Notice), Bradley Whitford, Colin Hanks (really liked him in Mad Men), Tim Matheson directed, lieutenant I recognized from TWW, Studio 60, and Castle (heh - BW knew many, many people on this set).

But it was funny.  It was an episode I think I need to watch again, but it was funny.  BW and his pornstache will never not be funny.  He's really embracing this boozy character.  I thought he'd be too much like Sam from Burn Notice but -- oh no.  I read something about an event at which all these new shows were being introduced and that The Good Guys (then untitled) was a standout because they found BW and BW & CH unbelievably hilarious goofing around at the panel.  I'm not sure if that was before or after the behind the scenes photo of BW with the stripper pole (yep.).

When it grabbed me: BW coming out of an (astro)trailer.  No, no, I kid, but man it looks like he's having fun.  Actual moment(s): (1) second best hit man in the world giving a lecture on Spanish grammar (yay!) and (2) the fact that he was the second best hit man in the world.
It was very charming.  Nia Vardalos was a surprise.  But the fact that BW's character can shoot the lock off of a golf bag but CH's character can't hit the second best hit man in the world (when SBHM is standing still) with two guns ("Not as easy as it looks, is it?) is going to be fun.  That BW keeps diving and shooting?  Fun.  The new car? Awesome.  Trying to jump into the car like Peter O'Toole (in How to Steal a Million)? Awesome-r  Having CH (and CH stunt double) leap into the car to save the girl?  Fantastic.

It's going to be fun.  I cannot believe I'm adding another TV show but it's new, and fun, and light, and funny.  Dallas in the summer isn't as fun as, say Miami in the summer, but it's okay.  Speaking of which -- Burn Notice back June 3!  Yay!

How is Fox getting all these awesome shows?  And why does it have to be Fox? (I think its their prez of programming, Kevin Reilly, who was fired by NBC a couple of years ago.  Geniuses at NBC, really -- canceling Law & Order so abruptly after 20 years? when they had one year to go to tie . . . Gunsmoke?  Dumb.)

i want to see this, but i think i'm going to let it do it's full course (it's obviously one of those we're trying it out in the summer to see if it works thing) and then tune in once there is some stuff under the belt. i don't want to add any more shows to my burgeoning list of two. esp. since i still have HUNDREDS of pages of 'ulysses' to read or hundreds of dollars to hand over should i fail :[

Aww, you're reading Ulysses. I have always wanted to do that. Watching you, however, is making me, well, not want to do that so much :D But you can do it!! And you can absolutely finish in the next couple of months! A bet is such a powerful motivator.

Yeah, I can't believe I've added another show. I'm actually kind of hoping that it just stays as a summer series (Fox said something about trying to replicate USA's and TNT's successes) because I don't think I could handle another "main season" series. I watch too much tv as it is. What are your two shows? Or, wait, maybe I don't want to know. I need to read a book.

Pretty, pretty icon.

yes. icon is ♥ *i* get distracted by it :D

ugh. ulysses. there's an app for that! well actually a chart, dedicated to documenting the plateaus which compose what is amounting to a pretty epic fail: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tw7mlUPb1s__YDTDNSIUdxA&single=true&gid=0&output=html

i need to update that... though there's nothing TO update. this book is proving to be more of a deterrent than the possibility of handing of $500. i'm seriously at a point where that would feel like a blessing - to pay to NOT have to read this thing.

you already know my shows: house and glee.
i'll also hulu the daily show and modern family. if i have cable access i go hgtv CRAZY - house hunters! and if there's a law & order marathon, I AM THERE. chun, chun, chun! can't believe that's over!

oooh, i'm so afraid that's going to suck me in. i keep resisting, hoping doctor who (frack me i need to stop adding tv shows) will satisfy my sci-fi need. i know i'll cave eventually. i really have no willpower whatsoever.

Charts! I love charts. Is the book really that bad? Wait--over 700 pages? With a lot of it being stream of consciousness, yes? Huh. Would a "book on tape" version help? How about drinking nothing but Guinness while you read it? That should put you in an appropriate mood to best, ahem, "appreciate" it.

Ah, house and glee. Duh, self, try not to be too stupid. Yay house hunters! I have to stay away from hgtv lately b/c it always makes me want to refinish cabinets or paint or something. Now I do not like to paint. At all. HGTV, however, has special powers and I start staring askance at my bathroom, thinking in paint chips :D

L&O is over and i am pissed off about it. i didn't even watch the series finale in protest. (* sheepishly * but i do want to know what it was like) was it even a series finale? no, right? b/c they didn't know nbc wasn't renewing them (i remember hearing about things they had planned for next year). stupid nbc. on the plus side, i don't have to watch it w/o anita, so that's something. maybe they'll have a tv movie like they had that one with chris noth years ago....

in all honesty it's horrific and it's completely soporific; i'm always waking up from reading. sigh.

i haven't seen the finale. i think i'll probably one day just have a marathon of what is now the final season with some friends once i'm back east. we can turn it into a drinking game where he chug every time we hear 'chun, chun, chun!'.
